Mary Elizabeth George was born in Utica, daughter of George T. and Mary Mandour George. She was a graduate of UCA in 1960. She attended MVCC and, in 1967, was graduated from Utica College. Miss George formerly taught in the Utica School System and for the past six years had been employed by the Oneida County Department of Social Services. She was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church and the CSEA. She also participated in local fund-raising drives for several charities.
