Thomas Caramadre

Tom was a newspaper reporter and editor (Mid-York Weekly, Oneida Daily Dispatch and the Utica Daily Press). Because of his love of writing, he went on to become the Executive Assistant to three of Utica's mayors - Assaro, Caruso and Hanna - a Democrat, Republican and Independent. In 1975 he accepted a position with the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce and within six months was appointed President. In Yonkers, Tom became a sought after speaker and master of ceremonies by many organizations (he MC'd the PAL luncheon with over 750 guests). He was honored as "Man of the Year" by the Heart Association and the Ladies Division of ACIM. Tom was the very proud father of T. Joseph, a graduate of Colgate University, Giovanna (aka Gia) who received her Masters in Social work from Fordham University and Michael who owns his own construction company. After his death, the Thomas Caramadre Humanitarian Award was established by the Womens Division of the Chamber of Commerce - a group Tom helped found. There is also a fund in his name to provide for the dialysis unit at St. Joseph's Hospital where he was a patient.
